CDAC is pleased to be supporting RedR's course Effective Humanitarian Response (SimEx) comprising training and simulation exercises.

This six-day course is split into two parts to provide an immersive learning experience for both experienced humanitarians and those new to the sector.

The training begins with a three-day face-to-face introductory course that covers basic needs assessments in emergencies, communicating with affected populations, coordination, and personal safety and security. Participants will cover topics such as: needs assessment data collection tools, participatory assessment techniques, information and report writing, understanding local information ecosystems, building trust and managing community expectations, inter-agency coordination, and travel/personal safety guidelines in emergencies.

This training will prepare participants to respond as part of SimEx Series 2018 - a large-scale disaster simulation run over three days immediately following the face-to-face course. Participants will work as part of NGO teams to collect, analyse, and disseminate information, work with local populations, and navigate complex environments to gain a hands-on understanding of the breaking days of an emergency.

SimEx Series, which takes place over 10 sites in Hampshire, UK, brings together over 2,000 humanitarians, first responders, and national and international relief workers to build better disaster responses by testing participants' skills in a real-time simulated crisis.
