Understanding the communication and engagement ecosystems in earthquake-affected Türkiye and northwest Syria

In response to the catastrophic earthquakes that struck southeast Türkiye and northwest Syria in February 2023, CDAC Network was commissioned to produce analysis mapping the communication and engagement ecosystems in earthquake-affected areas of both countries.

The reports present findings from the study, conducted between June and August 2023. By bringing together critical analysis on language, media, culture, information access and preferences – including a spotlight on the experiences of people with disabilities – they aim to deepen understanding of the information flows and communication ecosystems in Türkiye and northwest Syria.

The project was funded by the H2H Network’s H2H Fund, which is supported by Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), and delivered in partnership with CLEAR Global and Insecurity Insight.
