Christie Bacal-Mayencourt

Currently Senior Policy and Project Advisor on Accountability to Affected People at IOM, Christie brings more than a decade of specialist expertise in accountability, community engagement and in the field of human rights for more than a decade. Since 2018, she has spearheaded IOM’s efforts to develop and implement an institutional approach to accountability, enhancing the organisation's standing as a key advocate for collective approaches. She currently manages an inter-agency project to strengthen in-country leadership capacity on accountability. Christie is an attorney by training and considers herself a proud ‘accidental humanitarian’, having joined the humanitarian sector in 2012 as a local camp manager in her hometown of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines.
